Product Description
Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' is a popular compact cultivar known for its intense red to violet coloration and manageable growth pattern, making it a favorite among aquascapers seeking vibrant foreground or midground accents. Its naturally slow growth rate allows for easier maintenance while still delivering strong visual impact.
This plant develops a dense, bushy structure when regularly trimmed, making it ideal for creating low, colorful clusters in aquascapes. Depending on tank size, it can be used as a foreground highlight or midground feature, adding depth and contrast to layouts such as Nature Aquariums and Dutch-style designs.
To achieve its best coloration and compact growth, Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' requires high lighting and consistent CO₂ supplementation. Without these conditions, it may become leggy and lose its vibrant hues. A nutrient-rich substrate combined with regular fertilization—particularly iron (Fe)—supports healthy development and enhances its signature coloration.
Under submerged conditions, the plant exhibits its most intense colors and can grow up to 20 cm (8 inches) in height. It responds very well to trimming, which encourages lateral growth and helps maintain a compact, bushy form.
Propagation is simple and effective through stem cuttings, which can be replanted into the substrate to expand coverage. With proper care, Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' becomes a striking focal point, adding bold color and structure to any planted aquarium.
